when i think about the way…

one of the most difficult lessons that i’ve learned is that people will disappoint you. point-blank. it happens, get over it because there’s nothing you can do about it. just like many things in life, it is out of your control. but one thing i’ve realized is that disappointment is a two-way street. i believe disappointment becomes significantly harder than it needs to be because the bar is set way too high along with the concept of disillusionment OR “people” suck? just kidding.

the goal is not to become jaded and see God’s purpose through it all. He is constantly reminding me that He is the only constant factor in my life and Lord willingly, i will truly believe it and hold onto that promise rather than anything that this world can offer me. time and time again i can see that He is jealous for me and He wants my attention along with my time and thoughts. i hear you, God. loud and clear.

and i realize just how beautiful you are
and how great your affections are for me

oh how He loves us.

can you stand the rain?

my good friend weather.com has just informed me that it will be rainy in philadelphia for the next 9.5 days. unfortunately, it’s not always sunny in philadelphia. my mom pointed out that it seems like it’s ALWAYS raining on wednesdays and looking back, it sounds about right. i remember taking the trolley and then transferring to the orange line at 11 at night after full measure practice in the dreadful rain. i was prepared and pictured in my head how i’d use my gigantic umbrella in self-defense if anyone had tried to attack me. how did i survive without a car?! i don’t even want to think about my SEPTA days!

anyways, she’s thoroughly convinced that satan (saa taan) is tempting her so she won’t go to wednesday night service at church. my mom is not a fan of driving in general but she absolutely despises driving in the rain. although she’s not the only one who hates it when she drives in the rain; all the other drivers on 309 highway hate it as well since she drives about 30 mph the whole way. she also believes that God is testing her to see if she can fight the temptation of wanting to curl up in bed with a book and get to sleep early.

i am grateful for the fact that my mom consistently spiritualizes everything. i think it’s one of my favorite, if not favorite quality about her. she makes it so easy to coorelate Christ with every single detail in her life and my views on life would not be the same if she was never there to constantly remind me of the bigger picture. i can count the times she’s missed wednesday night service on one hand. she can stand the rain.
